Install guide, Full Disk Access, what DiskJoy removes and how to undo it, and how to report a security issue.
Draft: this information is under review and is not an effective policy or set of terms.
Install
DiskJoy is a Mac app. The Download page states which version is available and how to install it; follow the instructions shown there. If no download is listed, no installer has been published yet.
Full Disk Access
macOS protects locations such as Mail and Safari data. Without Full Disk Access, DiskJoy skips them and marks them as Not scanned. You can use DiskJoy with limited access and turn on Full Disk Access later in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access.
After changing the setting, reopen DiskJoy and use the app's Check Again action. Results cover what the app could inspect, so a scan without Full Disk Access reports less than a complete one.
What DiskJoy removes
DiskJoy lists what it finds by category, such as caches, logs, leftover data of apps you already deleted, large and old files, duplicates and developer files that can be recreated. Nothing is removed automatically. Items move to the Trash only after you confirm the full list, and nothing is permanently deleted until you empty the Trash.
Large and old files are never preselected. Possible matches for leftovers are not preselected either. System locations, your documents and Photos and Mail libraries are not offered for cleaning.
Undo a cleanup
Until you empty the Trash, open the Trash in Finder and choose Put Back. Files in the Trash still use disk space, so free space only increases after the Trash is emptied; DiskJoy shows Moved to Trash and Space freed separately.
Privacy
Scans run on your Mac and DiskJoy does not need an account. See the Privacy notice for what is retained locally and how website requests differ.
Report a security issue
Report a suspected vulnerability privately to support@diskjoy.com and do not post details publicly first. Include the DiskJoy version, macOS version and steps to reproduce, and do not attach personal files. A dedicated security contact has not been published yet. For other questions see Support and the FAQ.
Third-party notices
The open-source components included in the app and their licenses are listed in Third-party notices.
